yoga for all movement

"We burn for accesible yoga" In 2016 we started a movement to make yoga an accessible practice that not only feels good for incarcerated individuals and is also as a tool to reduce the impact of institutionalization. Since then, we have expanded our outreach and vision, teaching yoga to individuals in recovery from substance abuse, survivors of domestic violence and youth.

The intention of the Yoga For All Movement is to create an outcome that dismantles the "us versus them" dichotomy in our community through the shared practice of yoga. The intended impact for humanity is equity and justice for all.

Survivors Healing Center is a safe and confidential place for survivors of child sexual abuse.  Our goal is to empower those victimized by sexual abuse and to prevent sexual abuse of children and youth in our community.  We provide a safe and supportive healing environment using a client centered process, encouraging everyone to practice self-compassion, to speak their truth and show their emotions.

We offer an opportunity to speak out, to break the silence, and to find hope and healing.

Monarch Services

Monarch Services was founded in 1977, when volunteers secured a grant to open the safe shelter, Mariposa House. The agency continued to grow to meet the need for safe shelter and services to domestic violence victims.

In 1987, the agency became one of the first Rape Crisis Centers to be funded in California, and was instrumental in developing and implementing one of the first Sexual Assault Response Teams in the nation. We currently serve approximate 1,500 victims of domestic violence and sexual assault each year.

All of our crisis intervention and prevention services are available in Spanish and English and are culturally sensitive. Printed materials are also available in both languages. Our outreach efforts have concentrated on poor Latino neighborhoods with residents that have several barriers to seeking services, including language, literacy and legal status issues, and cultural biases. We are extremely proud of our success in serving this special population.
